About the Opportunities:

We currently have some incredible opportunities available for Baker's Assistant to join the Brucejack Mine remote work-site in Northwestern, British Columbia. This is a full time position that will work onsite on a rotating shift of 13 days on and 13 days off.

This position is located at Pretium Exploration Inc.'s "Pretivm" Brucejack site within the Catering & Accommodations Department. The position’s primary report is to the Chef and Baker supervisor.

The Baker’s Assistant will be responsible for the preparation and service of the menu plan as directed by the Baker and Chef, to high standards of quality and Food Safety. The Baker’s Assistant follows the production plan and recipes provided, as well as preparing for future needs as directed while maintaining the required standards and cleanliness, and adhering to the methods and processes outlined.

The position also ensures compliance with all Pretium Resources Inc.'s "Pretivm" Health & Safety and other relevant policies and regulations.

Responsibilities:

Perform following duties, with safety being the number one priority:

  • Ensure that all Food Safe policies and SOP's are followed
  • Conduct all work in a safe manner, and in accordance with Pretivm policies
  • Ensure following of WHMIS guidelines, familiarization with MSDS materials for all products, and use of appropriate PPE for all tasks
  • Prepare the menu plan of high standards of quality and Food Safety following the recipes and production plan, and as directed by the Chef and Baker 
  • Prep for stock and products, and maintain cleanliness in the self-serve lunch/snack room 
  • Assist the Baker with production, wrapping and storage 
  • Maintain and operate the hot service line as scheduled, follow all Food Safe procedures and complete required logs
  • Process and store leftover food in accordance with Food Safe and Pretivm guidelines
  • Complete kitchen cleaning routines and daily service line and ensure equipment shutdowns
  • Assist with receiving and storing grocery orders
  • Monitor inventory in area of responsibility and report stock that is of low or poor quality
  • Attend daily safety meetings, fill out a Surface Safety Card, and participate in reporting any issues or concerns to supervisors.
  • Contribute to the efficiency, safety, high morale, and smooth operation of the Catering & Accommodations team.
  • Make sure that all equipment and tools are well-maintained and in good working order. Report on any required damages and repairs
  • Perform other related duties as required

Accountability:

  • Through Guidance and consultation with the Chef and Baker, this position ensures all tasks are performed to a high standard, in a safe, Foodsafe, and efficient fashion, as well as adhering to the Production Plan, health and safety regulations and company standards / policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Position requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • WHMIS
  • Foodsafe 1
  • Kitchen and / or camp experience and particularly baking experience, some culinary education is preferred.

Additional Information:

  • Work at remote location (camp) on a 13 days on/13 days off rotation
  • Able to pass a pre-employment medical screening
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift
  • Be able maintain high levels of performance over 10 or 12 hour shifts
  • Able to work in areas of extreme weather conditions
  • Able to work in close quarters with the team
