About the Opportunity:  

We currently have exciting opportunity for Construction Lead Hand to join the Brucejack Mine in Northwestern, British Columbia.

This position is located at Pretium Exploration Inc.'s “Pretivm” Brucejack Mine and reports to the Construction Projects Superintendent or designate.

Job Purpose and Accountability

The Construction Lead Foreman’s primary responsibility is to oversee and direct the work of contractors and crews to ensure that construction projects at the Brucejack mine are being carried out safely, in a timely manner and according to plan. The incumbent is also responsible for ensuring that equipment & materials are readily available and that all work is performed safely and in keeping with rules, regulations & policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively lead personnel in Pretivm’s safety program and promote the “Safety by Choice, Not by Chance” culture
  • Review daily work plans with Supervisor and assess job priorities
  • Plan, coordinate, monitor work crews task assignments and ensure equipment & materials are available
  • Consult/collaborate relevant site management teams to communicate daily activities & assign appropriate personnel to specific tasks as required
  • Communicate with site logistics personnel to avoid conflicting transportation/supply issues
  • Monitor work projects to ensure the safe execution of all activities are carried out on schedule while assessing/addressing challenges or possible changes to the plan
  • Ensure safety is given highest priority and document/report any related safety incidents or infractions
  • Troubleshoot operational issues/problems and provide guidance to personnel and work crews in order to resolve the situation
  • Evaluate crew performance and make recommendations for change where required
  • Assist with training & development of employees giving clear directions as to project goals to ensure project objectives are completed on schedule
  • Lead daily safety meetings and ensure the development and maintenance Safe Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Job hazard analysis (JHA’s) to ensure compliance with Pretivm Inc.’s Health & Safety policies
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

Verifiable experience as a well-rounded Supervisor with attention to detail.  A Minimum of seven (7) years of experience managing construction & maintenance projects in Heavy Commercial or Industrial projects environment.  Demonstrated project leadership experience combined with strong demonstrated planning, supervisory, problem solving and conflict resolution expertise.

Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (English)
  • A team player and have the ability to work under intense pressure
  • Computer software skills (i.e. word processing, spreadsheet, MS Project etc.)
  • Strong demonstrated knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures
  • Analytical, problem solving and time management skills

Additional Information:

  • Work at remote location (camp) on a 13 days on and 13 days off rotation
  • Able to pass a pre-employment medical screening
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift
  • Be able maintain high levels of performance over 12 hour shifts
  • Able to work in areas of extreme weather conditions
  • Able to work in close quarters with the team
