The Opportunity:

We currently have an opportunity for a Human Resources Advisor to join the Newcrest team in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Human Resources Advisor provides advisory support to assist in the delivery of Human Resources Business Partnership (HRBP).

The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following duties:

Generalist HR

  • Provides HRBP support to regional employees.
  • Assists in the implementation of HRBP improvement initiatives.
  • Support the delivery of the annual HR People Plan and Strategy.
  • Complete tasks to assist in the HRBP support provided to Level 3, 4 and regional function employees and People Leaders. Further support includes, but is not limited to:
    • Managing all Online forms
    • Reviewing of Employment Contracts and Letters
  • Supports in the resolution of people-related queries, which includes but is not limited to:
    • Providing advice on interpretation and application of HR policies, standards, and guidelines
    • Advice and support on Performance Management issues
    • Providing recommendations of remuneration for internal appointments
    • Maintain visibility of the success of online on-boarding activities of new starters within the client group
  • Supports HRBPs with tasks relating to workforce planning and headcount budgeting.
  • Supports HRBPs with executing the annual HR Programs (Performance, Talent & Succession), including:
    • System & general support to the client group
    • Talent & Succession
    • Compliance Reporting
    • Quality checks
  • Develop and Maintain on-boarding documentation and activities of new starters within the client group.
  • Engage with stakeholders to compile the monthly contractor reporting.
  • Manage on-boarding activities of new starters within the client group.

Organisational Development and Effectiveness (OD&E)

  • Supports HRBPs and the VP, People Western Canada in administrative tasks relating to the talent cycle.
  • Supports HRBPs in the coordination of employee evaluations/assessments and data management.

Resourcing and Workforce Planning

  • Supports HRBPs and VP, People Western Canada in administrative tasks relating to resourcing and workforce planning.

Performance and Reward

  • Support HRBPs and VP, People Western Canada in administrative tasks relating to performance and reward including data management and reporting, and the annual salary review and STI process.

Graduate, Co-Op, and Early Careers Development Program

  • Co-ordinate workforce planning activities related to the Graduate, Co-Op, and Early Careers Development Program in conjunction with discipline leads.
  • Engage with discipline leads, Site HR Managers, GMs to seek approval for the yearly Graduate intake.
  • Support the team in managing the Graduate, Co-Op, and Early Careers Development Program from a HR perspective, including but limited too:
    • All employment contracts and letters
    • Advice on Performance Management issues
    • General HR advice on policies, procedures and standards
  • Provide input for workforce planning activities related to the Graduate, Co-Op, and Early Careers Development Program to assist in determining yearly Graduate intake
  • In consultation with group Remuneration and Rewards Team determine program remuneration levels for the upcoming program.
  • Provide monthly budget information for the Graduate budget to the VP, People Western Canada to monitor costs and variances.

About You:

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline and/or work experience in a related discipline as well as the following competencies:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar roles with specific knowledge of operational HR, ideally within the mining and extractive industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role with knowledge of operational HR.
  • Understanding/exposure to HR practices, processes, disciplines and systems
  • A solution focussed approach to problem solving with the end user in mind
  • Critical thinker with prior experience interpreting difficult situations and making recommendations on how to proceed.
