About the Opportunities:

We currently have some incredible opportunities available for Shop Laborer to join the Brucejack Mine remote work-site in Northwestern British Columbia.

This position is located at Pretium Exploration Inc.'s "Pretivm" Brucejack site within the Surface Maintenance Department. The position report is to the Master Mechanic or designate. 

Job Purpose and Accountability

To work, support and assist in daily Maintenance operations, servicing and repairs. Shop and yard housekeeping and organizing duties. Daily operations include housekeeping, parts storage, parts inventory and assisting all Maintenance personnel when directed and if required. This position requires physically fit for working and may require lifting (50 lbs maximum) and continuous physical exertion at times. Must be prepared to work outside in alpine mountainous location and conditions. The position also ensures compliance with all Pretium Resources Inc.'s "Pretivm" Health & Safety and other relevant policies and regulations. 

Responsibilities:

Perform following duties, with safety being the number one priority

  • Cleaning the shop area and yard
  • Moving tools, and products to correct shop locations
  • Assisting mechanics and welders when required
  • Responsible to ensure that the Health, Safety and Environmental standards of the company are met or exceeded
  • Strong safety orientation and diligent in pro-active identification and resolution of hazards and safety issues
  • Actively participate in hazard identification, equipment inspection and properly completing the required safety documentation
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Assist with crew van driving when required
  • Snow clearing duties when required
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or GED and a clean Class 4 driver's license.

Skills:

  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work efficiently
  • Possess good inter-personal skill to work well within a team environment
  • Must possess a positive "can do" attitude
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Basic knowledge of common tooling
  • Organizational skills pertaining to parts stocking and organization.
  • Knowledge of industry specific to construction and vehicles ·and equipment
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Quick learner, with good attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work well under pressure to provide quality while meeting deadlines
  • Adaptable and flexible
  • Team-player, willing and able to assist others in a pleasant manner
  • Able to work 12 hour shifts
  • Able to follow all safe work practices
  • Able to follow direction and stay focused on delegated tasks
  • Certification in workplace hazardous materials information system (WHMIS)
  • TDG - transportation of dangerous goods

Additional Information:

  • Work at remote location (camp) on a 13 days on/13 days off rotation and 2 travel days
  • Able to pass a pre-employment medical screening
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift
  • Be able maintain high levels of performance over 12 hour shifts
  • Able to work in areas of extreme weather conditions
  • Able to work in close quarters with the team
