About the Opportunity:  

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Mill Trainer to join Pretium Exploration Inc.'s "Pretivm" Brucejack Mine in Northwestern, British Columbia. This is a full time position that will work onsite on a rotating shift of 13 days on and 13 days off.

This position is located at Pretium Exploration Inc.'s "Pretivm" Brucejack.  The position’s primary report is to the Mill Operations Superintendent or designate. This position requires daily interaction with the superintendents, supervisors & trainees of the Mill (Operations & Maintenance) & Surface department.

Job Purpose and Accountability

The incumbent will play a key role in providing both safety & skills training for the employees of the Mill (Operations & Maintenance) & Surface department.

Safety Expectations:

Provide visible leadership and adherence to all Pretivm safety & environmental standards.  Incorporate site safety & environmental standards into each training program to mitigate risk & hazards in the workplace.

Responsibilities:

Perform the following duties with safety being the number one priority:

  • Participate in the development of the training & safety modules, policies & standard operating procedures for the Mill & Surface Operations.
  • Develop checks lists & operating training manuals for both stationary and mobile equipment.
  • Develop & maintain training & development material & program for the Mill & Surface department.
  • Develop & promote safety practices.
  • Assist the superintendents to establish measurable goals & levels of competency for each position & trainees.
  • Conduct in class training.
  • Provide trainees with timely feedback.
  • Maintain training documentation and ensure that records are kept up to date.
  • Register all required paperwork with appropriate agencies in regard to operator & maintenance personnel training
  • Establish a mill & surface training registry.
  • Ensure training activities and frequency are conducted in accordance with safety regulations & established standards.
  • Conduct annual training needs analysis & update.
  • Assist superintendents & supervisors to identify talent & develop career paths & provide progressive training to maintain skilled employees.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and incident investigation as required.
  • Writes clear & concise work procedures

Qualifications:

Position requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • College diploma or equivalent plus 5 years of training experience in a mill.
  • Possess Train the Trainer qualifications.
  • Familiar with the BC Mines Acts & Regulations
  • Knowledge of surface, mill & underground operations.
  • Knowledge of industrial hygiene.

Skills:

  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Applications is mandatory.
  • Experienced in writing procedures.
  • Excellent class room training and presentation skills.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills with the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Additional Information:

  • Work at remote location (camp) on a 13 days on/13 days off rotation
  • Able to pass a pre-employment medical screening
  • Be able maintain high levels of performance over 12 hour shifts
  • Able to work in areas of extreme weather conditions
  • Able to work in close quarters with the team
