We are Pretivm – a Canadian mining company, headquartered in Vancouver, BC, owns and operates the high-grade underground Brucejack gold mine located 65 kilometres north of the town of Stewart in northern British Columbia. About the Opportunity:

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Site Human Resources Superintendent to join our team at the Brucejack mine on 13 days on/13 days off rotation and 2 travel days.

This position is located at Pretium Exploration Inc.'s "Pretivm" Brucejack mine site. The Site Human Resources Superintendent role reports directly to the Director of Human Resources, with a dotted line reporting to General Manager (or designate)

Job Purpose & Accountability:

The purpose of this position is to support the operation of the Brucejack Mine through the management of day-to-day Human Resources activities related to: the administration of site HR policies and procedures, site employee recruitment and selection, employee engagement and recognition, incident investigation and resolution, performance management, and the support of core corporate Human Resources functions including analysis and metrics.

This position works directly with all site supervisors, mine management and the Brucejack Mine General Manager to ensure the timely execution of related HR activities, duties, responsibilities and accountabilities are handled in a safe and efficient manner.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervise, coach and direct the activities of the site HR team on shift
  • Provide guidance, advice, direction and assistance to departmental managers and site-based leadership
  • Direct and coordinate site HR work activities relating to employment, compensation and employee relations
  • Develop and manage internal/external training and recruitment programs, including workforce planning and interviewing, and assist with activities as required, such as the Snow Removal and Seasonal program
  • Assist in the development of protocols to foster strong community relations and participate/deliver information sessions potential employment opportunities and/or training initiatives for communities at large
  • Assist with the development and implementation of all required/necessary human resource, employee and employee relations policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and provincial employee and labour standards legislation (i.e. Canadian Human Rights Acts, BC Employment Standards, Pay Equity Act)
  • Responsible for coordinating and delivering Human Resource training programs on site
  • Ongoing communication with the members of the corporate Human Resources team
  • Lead the implementation and monitoring of strategic human resource planning that is aligned with Pretivm’s strategic plan
  • Assist with the preparation of the budget
  • Lead other HR Initiatives and special projects; and
  • Other HR activities to support the success of Brucejack Mine

Qualifications:

Degree/Diploma in Human Resource Management with eight (8) to ten (10) years of progressively responsible supervisory experience managing and delivering all aspects of Human resources administration, operations, recruitment and employee relations with a CPHR designation.

Skills:

  • Seasoned knowledge of HR principles, policies & procedures, and strong understanding of the Employment Standards Act and other related employment legislation
  • Strong analytic and organizational abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills both verbal and written
  • Strong demonstrated leadership and time management skills
  • Ability to make difficult decisions with the challenges of conflicting priorities
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite required
  • Strong knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures
  • Cross cultural awareness with an understanding and sensitivity of the challenges associated with differences in cultural and economic backgrounds

  • Able to work at remote location (camp) on a 13 days on/13 days off rotation
  • Be able maintain high levels of performance over 12 hour shifts
  • Able to work in areas of extreme weather conditions
  • Able to work in close quarters with the team
  • Able to pass a pre-employment medical screening and criminal record check
