We are Pretivm – a Canadian mining company, headquartered in Vancouver, BC, owns and operates the high-grade underground Brucejack gold mine located 65 kilometres north of the town of Stewart in northern British Columbia. About the opportunity:

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Metallurgical Superintendent to join the Brucejack Mine in Northwestern, British Columbia. This is a full time position that will work onsite on a rotating shift of 13 days on and 13 days off.

This position is located at Pretium Exploration Inc.'s “Pretivm” Brucejack Mine Site, British Columbia.  The Metallurgical Superintendent’s primary report is to the Mill Manager or designate.

Job Purpose and Accountability

The Metallurgical Superintendent will lead the metallurgical and analytical team to ensure the key safety, environmental and production targets and objectives are achieved.

Responsibilities:

The Metallurgical Superintendent’s responsibilities include:

  • Support and maintain the principles of the company OH&S and environmental policies.
  • Implement key operating indicators and systems by which these indicators could be monitored and maintained by the team.
  • Optimize gold recovery through process optimization of each unit operations and with focus on continuous improvement.
  • Implement metallurgical accounting system that involves circuit and concentrate and bullion sampling, analyzing, and accounting for gold and silver.
  • Develop sampling and analytical and nuclear belt scale and density meter calibration protocol.
  • Provide leadership in proactively identifying and troubleshooting operations challenges.
  • Manage both the Analytical and Metallurgical Laboratory and ensuring that SOPs are developed and implemented accordingly.
  • Ensure ISO 17025 certification is implemented in a timely fashion.  
  • Support budgeting responsibilities for the mill and collaborate with geological department to ensure assay laboratory budget is aligned with the mine site drilling programs and operational needs.
  • Provide training and growth opportunities to challenge team members while accomplishing safety, production and treated effluent discharge targets.
  • Develop a technically competent team which will continuously improve each unit operations from underground crushing to gold recovery processes to paste backfilling to underground water treatment.
  • Implement a tracking system to ensure that an optimized consumable inventory level is maintained at Brucejack and Knipple.
  • Implement a concentrate inventory tracking and management system that tracks concentrate shipments.
  • Ensure the site wide water balance and lake bathymetry is updated annually.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering combined with a minimum of 15 years of experience. Some project and commissioning experience preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years in senior supervisory role.
  • Prior gold experience required utilizing gravity concentration and flotation.

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and relationship building skills and can interact effectively with all levels of employees and management
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills with the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated metallurgical excellence in gold metallurgy and water treatment chemistry.

Additional Information:

  • Work at remote location (camp) on a 13 days on/13 days off rotation
  • Able to pass a pre-employment medical screening
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift
  • Be able maintain high levels of performance over 12 hour shifts
  • Able to work in areas of extreme weather conditions
  • Able to work in close quarters with the team
