About the opportunity:

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting to join our team.

This position is located at Pretium Resources Inc.'s (“Pretivm”) corporate office in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting primary report is to the Manager, Financial Reporting.

Job Purpose and Accountability 

The purpose of the finance department at Pretivm is to provide the information, governance and forecasting across the organization to maximize the value of our ore bodies as well as to grow the business organically and through acquisitions.

The finance function utilizes centre of excellence, specialized services, and shared services models to ensure the group objectives are met and uses an agile approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.

The Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting will be an integral part of the finance & accounting team.  Under the direction of the Manager, Financial Reporting, the Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting will be responsible for maintaining accounting records, ensuring compliance with internal controls and assistance in the financing close process.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assistance in completing the month-end, quarterly and annual financial close process;
  • Assistance in preparation of monthly internal financial statements and analysis;
  • Maintaining supporting schedules for financial reporting in accordance with IFRS;
  • Preparation of account reconciliations as part of month-end process;
  • Maintaining leased assets contract register in accordance with IFRS;
  • Preparing journal entries to maintain accurate accounting records;
  • Preparing payment of weekly accounts payable balances;
  • Assisting in the financial analysis of historical results;
  • Assisting in the preparation of annual corporate administrative and exploration budgets;
  • Assistance in the Company’s internal control efforts, including execution and documentation of internal controls over financing reporting processes, and
  • Other projects or duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • This position requires a recognized accounting designation with a minimum of 2 years of post-graduate experience in the mining or natural resource extractive industry or any combination of experience, education, and training.
  • Direct experience in working with JD Edwards or similar accounting systems.
  • Direct experience in preparing and maintaining corporate accounting records.
  • Direct experience in SOX compliance.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of technical and professional principles and skills related to extractive industry accounting.
  • Must have an advanced Excel proficiency and previous working knowledge of ERP systems and ability to utilize reporting and analytical tools to fulfil requirements of position.
  • Conscientious about timeliness of assignments and quality of work product.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic and comfortable with rapid growth and ability to meet rigorous deadlines of a publicly traded company.
