About the Opportunity:  

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Mine Surveyor to join Pretium Exploration Inc.'s "Pretivm" Brucejack Mine in Northwestern, British Columbia. This is a full time position that will work onsite on a rotating shift of 13 days on and 13 days off.

This position is located at Pretium Exploration Inc.'s "Pretivm" Brucejack Mine, BC in support of the Company’s mining and exploration projects and reports to the Chief Mining Engineer or designate.

Job Purpose and Accountability

The Mine Surveyor is responsible and accountable for coordinating and executing daily underground survey tasks and related activities to ensure that mining designs are carried out according to established directives while ensuring that the survey quality plan is implemented and appropriate survey control and integrity of data is maintained in a timely and effective manner.

Responsibilities:

Perform the following duties with safety being the number one priority:

  • Establish and monitor primary and secondary underground survey controls at the Brucejack mine to include shaft, decline, or tunnel grade levelling and maintain respective data collection and documentation of control and closure accuracies and/or adjustments
  • Complete daily survey pickups, provide line and grade control for development crews, produce driving layouts, maintain as-built drawings, complete month end development and production reports
  • Complete scans of underground excavations to update as-built models and for reconciliation purposes
  • Conduct survey data analysis and maintain integrity of data of all files in survey database.
  • Set out mine design and geological requirements to include plans for staff to utilise
  • Conduct and verify ore reserve and/or stockpile surveys to ensure accurate mineral resource volumes are calculated and reconciled monthly
  • Participate in the preparation of quarterly and annual mine survey initiatives for review by the Technical Services Department
  • Monitor and report on integrity of shafts, declines, tunnels, tailings dams and all structural deformations on a required basis for risk assessment analysis
  • Maintain surveying equipment to required standards
  • Provide data relevant to the shape, contour, gravitation, location, elevation, or dimension of ore and waste bodies for engineering and geology teams
  • Collaborate and share survey data with engineering, geology, and contract personnel.
  • Develop criteria for survey methods and procedures
  • Carry out initial surveys, risk assessments and environmental impact assessments on potential work locations to assess whether plans are workable
  • Conduct other activities to support the safe, efficient, and successful development of the Brucejack Mine
  • Understand and ensure compliance with Pretivm safety policies and governmental safety regulations including Ministry of Mines and WorkSafeBC

Qualifications:

  • Degree/Diploma in Mine, Geomatic or Engineering Surveying complimented with three to five (3-5) years of experience in an underground environment.

Skills:

  • Proficient with survey/mining software (i.e. MS Office products, AutoCAD, Vulcan etc.)
  • Proficient with Trimble Survey Equipment and I-Site scanners.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills (English)
  • Leadership, planning, organizational and project coordination skills & experience
  • Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures
  • Time management and decision-making skills
  • Cross cultural awareness with an understanding and sensitivity of the challenges associated with differences in cultural and economic backgrounds

Additional Information:

  • Work at remote location (camp) on 13 days on site, 13 days off site and 2 travel days rotation
  • Able to pass a pre-employment medical screening
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift
  • Be able maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shifts
  • Able to work in areas of extreme weather conditions
  • Able to work in close quarters with the team
