About the Opportunity:
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Apprentice Plumber / Fitter to join Pretium Exploration Inc.'s "Pretivm" Brucejack Mine in Northwestern, British Columbia.
This position is located at Pretium Exploration Inc.'s "Pretivm" Brucejack site within the Maintenance Department and reports to the Surface Maintenance Supervisor(s) or designate.
Job Purpose and Accountability
The purpose of this position is to assist in the installation and maintenance of gas appliances and piping systems by diagnosing and repairing components and equipment problems in accordance with relevant codes. The Apprentice Gas Fitter is accountable for the safe and timely provision of these services under the guidance of a Red Seal Journeyman Plumber/ Fitter in an effective and efficient manner in accordance with all relevant codes and regulations.
Responsibilities:
Perform following duties, with safety being the number one priority:
- Study drawings and specifications to determine the layout of the installation and materials required
- Measure and mark reference points for installation of plumbing fixture and equipment
- Assist in the installation and maintenance of flow meters and water and sewer lines
- Assist in the installation, maintenance/ and servicing of Plumbing futures their components, such as valves and automatic controls
- Learn to test and replace defective equipment or components
- Learn to test and adjust control mechanisms and check pipes and piping connections for Water and sewer lines
- Attend water and sewer leak calls and assist in the investigation
- May repair and service Water and sewer related equipment
- Participate m any other site-specific training
- Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications:
Position requirements include, but are not limited to:
- Must have a strong desire to learn all aspects of Red Seal Plumbing Trade
- Grade 12 or equivalent including: English 12, Mathematics 12 and Physics 12
- Able to satisfy all entrance requirements to enroll in the trade program
Skills
- Must have mechanical aptitude and desire to learn Plumbing trade
- Strong desire to gain knowledge of code regulations regarding the installation of Plumbing fixtures and piping systems
- Detail and results oriented with the ability to adhere to shifting priorities and deadlines
- Good mathematical, scientific, mechanical, and logical reasoning abilities
- Must be able to take direction and follow instructions of Journeyman and/or Supervisor
Additional Information:
- Work at remote location (camp) on a 13 days on / 13 day off rotation / 2 travel days
- Able to pass a pre-employment medical screening
- Must be able to lift/move up to 501bs throughout a work shift
- Be able maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shifts
- Able to work in areas of extreme weather conditions
- Able to work in close quarters with the team
