About the Opportunity:  

The Return to Work, Health and Wellness Coordinator is located at Pretium Exploration Inc.'s "Pretivm" Brucejack Mine and reports to the Health and Safety Manager.  

Job Purpose and Accountability:

The Return to Work, Health and Wellness Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to, coordinate and facilitate Pretivm’s Stay at Work, Return to Work, Disability Management Program. As well as to develop well being initiatives that create awareness, provide tools and motivation that help employees adapt and maintain a well-rounded healthy lifestyle while working for Pretivm.

Responsibilities:

Perform following duties, with safety being the number one priority:

  • Responsible for implementing and coordinating the group process that facilitates and expedites the organizations Stay at Work (SAW), Return to Work (RTW) and Disability Management Program. Conduct Manager/Supervisor orientation and training.
  • Support workers as they recover at work or expedite rehabilitation and return to work while meeting the obligations as required by WorksafeBC. Demonstrate care and understanding towards the employee and their illness or injury. Keep confidential case notes/logs and records in line with laws and guidelines.
  • Monitor and compile the initial notification information. Coordinate the workers recovery at work, including assisting the Supervisor in identifying suitable work. Help with preparing, monitoring and reviewing a worker’s SAW/RTW plan. Liaison with the worker’s support team. Log, track, report all first aid, SAW and RTW statistics, WorkSafeBC costs, restricted duties and loss time incidents. Contribute to the improvement of relevant policies and systems. Promote the health benefits of safe work.
  • Assist with recovery at work or RTW efforts by liaising between the employee, the supervisor, on-site medical clinic, human resources, WorkSafeBC and The Employers’ Advisers Office BC. Educate/train employees, managers, supervisors, treating medical practitioners and other external providers about their roles and responsibilities in SAW/RTW. Instigate and participate in the review process with the BC Employers’ Advisers Office.
  • Travel weekly to the two supporting Knipple and Wildfire camps.
  • Prepare annual operating budget for health & wellness.
  • Attend on-site toolbox meetings and lead employees through departmental specific warm-up programs (“stretch & flex”) and provide other tools/sessions for teams with higher MSI challenges.
  • Train, coach, and mentor “stretch & flex” leaders from all teams at each camp.
  • Provide individual support (one-to-one) through health coaching, personal training, or nutrition counselling including instruct others in, proper operation of fitness equipment
  • Teach group fitness classes to improve strength, flexibility, cardiovascular conditioning, mind-body i.e. yoga/stretch, meditation and general health, wellness and fitness of participants.
  • Monitor gym, yoga room, and recreation room use and ensure employees are following site regulations.
  • Manage, quality control, repair and maintenance of the weight rooms in all camps, using the internal compliance inspection program.
  • Create well-defined metrics to measure the success of Health & Wellness by tracking attendance, participation, or performance data related to health and wellness events.
  • Coordinate healthy food choices with the Camp Services team.
  • Member and contributor to the Mental Health Committee.
  • Member and contributor to the Recreation Committee.
  • Enhance and promote a strong health and safety culture by being the “Change Champion” in building enthusiasm and focus efforts around safety, health and wellness.
  • Develop monthly motivational challenges to promote a healthy lifestyle or participation in fitness, health and wellness programs.
  • Conduct surveys to determine interest in, or satisfaction with, health, wellness and fitness programs, events, or services.
  • Coordinate educational seminars on high-risk targeted topics.
  • Other duties as required to support the success of Pretivm.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or collegial level degree in nutrition, physical education, kinesiology, or any other related studies.
  • Knowledge and experience in return to work, health care, rehabilitation or fitness industries.
  • Return to Work training completed through Worksafe BC is preferred
  • First Aid-CPR, personal training, group fitness, BCAK membership, health coach certification/registration with BCRPA.
  • Minimum 5 years practical experience in a corporate work environment creating, implementing and promoting health and wellness programs.

Skills:

  • Understanding of trends and best practices in employee health and wellbeing
  • Excellent written, oral, interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills
  • Highly effective organizational, time management and analytical skills
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

  • Work at remote location on a 13 day on /13 day off rotation
  • Be able maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shifts

  • Able to work in close quarters with the team
  • Able to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift
