About the Opportunity:  

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Plumber to join the Brucejack Mine in Northwestern, British Columbia.

This position is located at Pretium Exploration lnc.'s "Pretivm" Brucejack Mine, British Columbia and reports to the Camp Maintenance supervisor or designate. 

Job Purpose and Accountability:

The Plumber's primary responsibility is to support the installation and repair of Camps operations water and sewer pipe assemblies, fittings, valves and related appliances at the Knipple Camp site utilizing plumbers hand and power tools while conforming to established building codes. This position is accountable for accurately interpreting relevant plumbing blueprints, sketches and building plans completing projects in a safe, effective and efficient manner.

Responsibilities:

Preform the following duties with safety being the number one priority: 

  • Assemble pipe sections, tubing and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing and welding equipment
  • Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks
  • Review blueprints and building codes and specifications to determine work details and procedures while consulting and collaborating with relevant Pretivm and contractor personnel to coordinate work projects
  • Study building plans and inspect structures to assess material and equipment needs, to establish the sequence of pipe installations, and to plan installation around obstructions such as electrical wiring
  • Keep records of assignments and produce detailed work reports
  • Perform complex calculations and planning for special jobs
  • Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes, and fixtures in structures, using measuring instruments such as rulers and levels
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required angle, using hand and power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines, and pipe-bending machines
  • Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves and appliances (i.e. Dishwashers, water heaters, sinks and toilets etc.)
  • Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings, using hand and power tools
  • Hang steel supports from ceiling joists to hold pipes in place
  • Install storm, sanitary and water piping systems
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

Journeyman Plumber with inter-provincial Red Seal certification complimented with a minimum of five (5) years or more of progressively related experience in a commercial or industrial setting. 

Skills:

  • Strength, stamina & use of proper lifting techniques to handle items weighing up to 25 kgs 
  • Good coordination, manual dexterity and ability.
  • Ability to visualize a layout by looking at plans and prints 
  • Ability to comprehend and trouble-shoot plumbing issues and problems 
  • Ability to get along with and supervise the work of others

Additional Information:

  • Work at remote location (camp) on a 13 days on/13 days off rotation, and 2 travel days
  • Able to pass a pre-employment medical screening
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift
  • Be able maintain high levels of performance over 12 hour shifts
  • Able to work in areas of extreme weather conditions
  • Able to work in close quarters with the team
