We are Pretivm – headquartered in Vancouver, BC. Pretivm owns and operates Brucejack, a high-grade underground gold mine located 65 kilometers north of the town of Stewart in northern British Columbia. We have an office and Warehouse in Smithers, BC as well as 3 camps located on our Brucejack property. 

Brucejack is one of the largest and highest-grade gold mines globally and as of January 1, 2021 has Proven and Probable mineral reserves of 3.9 million ounces of gold (14.4 million tonnes grading 8.3 grams per tonne gold) with a mine life of 12 years. Resource expansion drilling is ongoing and we have a large land package where we conduct grass roots exploration in the summer months.

Job Purpose & Accountability:

Help Desk Level 2 technicians relay difficult technical information to non-technical users in an easily understandable and concise format. This role is best suited for problem solvers who prefer to work in a challenging and positive environment.

Help Desk Level 2 provides technical support for a wide variety of computer systems by responding to and analyzing requests, implementing systems and providing technical advice and training to end users. The help-desk support analyst, as the most visible client support person in the department, is always expected to maintain a calm helpful demeanor and display exemplary professional conduct. This role provides support leadership on new IT services that are introduced or updated into the department that affects how end users perform their work.

Responsibilities:

Perform following duties, with safety being the number one priority

  • Interact regularly and effectively with ticket submitters and provide on-site/ remote IT support
  • Consult with project groups to ensure an understanding of software, hardware, information systems and procedural requirements to determine their needs and identify the appropriate technology solution
  • Diagnose and resolve or escalate various and diverse computer hardware, software, and/or network problems in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Image and deploy PCs, install operating systems (Linux, Windows, or MacOS X), software and peripherals on new or existing workstations
  • Develop records of daily data communication transactions, issues and remedial actions taken or installation activities
  • Working with IT Vendors to research and procure IT solutions
  • Management of Active Directory, understanding of Microsoft Exchange Server
  • Technical knowledge of standard MS Office suite, help desk, anti-virus software Internet applications, e-mail clients, SSH and HTML
  • Microsoft Office 365 administration
  • GPO - Group Policy Objects experience preferred
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, user instructions, and procedure manuals

Qualifications:

  • Combination of education and certifications
  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree related to IT
  • Microsoft, Cisco, and CompTIA A+ certifications are assets
  • Minimum 5 years of previous experience providing technical support

Skills:

  • Highly comfortable in interacting with others, of varying personalities, in person, on the phone
    and through using remote tools
  • Capable of providing extended hours when required to meet deadlines
  • Able to prioritize and work effectively while being adaptable and open to constant priority changes
  • Calm and collected disposition because there will be pressure and difficult situations
  • Work effectively independently and in a team environment with a positive attitude
  • Develop and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships

Additional Information:

  • Work a normal office hour with regular travel to remote location (camp)
  • Be able maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shifts
  • Able to work in areas of extreme weather conditions
  • Able to work in close quarters with the team
