Brucejack is one of the largest and highest-grade gold mines globally and as of January 1, 2021 has Proven and Probable mineral reserves of 3.9 million ounces of gold (14.4 million tonnes grading 8.3 grams per tonne gold) with a mine life of 12 years. Resource expansion drilling is ongoing and we have a large land package where we conduct grass roots exploration in the summer months.

About the Opportunity:

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Warehousing and Internal Logistics Superintendent to join our warehouse team in Smithers, British Columbia. This position will be based in Smithers and works a Monday to Friday schedule - travel and accommodation is not being offered for this role.  

The Warehousing and Internal Logistics Manager is accountable for responsible and ethical execution of warehouse and third party logistics activities including overall management of the warehouse.  This includes planning, maintaining and operating in a manner that meets acceptable standards for safety, quality, cost, timeliness and sustainability.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading and managing warehouse and transportation contractor personnel and facilities to professional standards of safety, security, housekeeping, effectiveness and efficiency;
  • Oversight and responsibility for security of warehouse and transportation assets;
  • Understanding and addressing operational needs of Operations, Maintenance, and Construction (“customers”);
  • Communicating effectively with company personnel and suppliers while executing warehousing and transportation business processes;
  • Training, guiding and developing warehouse personnel to improve group and individual performance;
  • Developing, implementing and improving business processes for warehouse receiving, quality assurance, stocking, picking, packing, shipping and inventory management;
  • Maintaining and improving warehouse facilities (e.g.: sizing, layout, locations, safety, security);
  • Managing and coordinating component repair and warranty work, working with Maintenance;
  • Coordinate and oversee consignment inventory and suppliers (e.g.: vendor managed stock);
  • Using technology tools appropriately and promoting their use as dictated by company policy and process;
  • Reporting warehouse performance on key indicators such as: On Time in Full delivery, Process Adherence, Inventory Record Accuracy, Value of Inventory, Cycle counts, Cost and Value of third party logistics providers;
  • Managing the relationship and performance of third party logistics providers to deliver on commitments and expectations;
  • Contributing insight into warehouse and distribution strategy such as: locations and tracking of critical spares, inventory locations, slotting strategy, transportation planning, inventory record accuracy.
  • Overseeing warehouse and stock locations in Smithers;
  • Managing outbound transportation from Smithers to Knipple to Brucejack as appropriate.

Qualification and Experience:

  • Parts Technician with inter-provincial Red Seal certification
  • 10+ years of warehouse and logistics experience in heavy industrial settings
  • 5+ years Mining experience (or related, Oil & Gas) 
  • Ability to manage a team of 10
  • Experience with JDEdward or similar ERP technology

  • Willingness to consult and seek advice to reach good decisions to address risk, innovation or unfamiliar situations
