We are Pretivm – headquartered in Vancouver, BC. Pretivm owns and operates Brucejack, a high-grade underground gold mine located 65 kilometers north of the town of Stewart in northern British Columbia. We have an office and Warehouse in Smithers, BC as well as 3 camps located on our Brucejack property. 

Brucejack is one of the largest and highest-grade gold mines globally and as of January 1, 2021 has Proven and Probable mineral reserves of 3.9 million ounces of gold (14.4 million tonnes grading 8.3 grams per tonne gold) with a mine life of 12 years. Resource expansion drilling is ongoing and we have a large land package where we conduct grass roots exploration in the summer months.

Organizational Relationship:

The Geological Technician-Sample Coordinator position is located at Pretium Exploration Inc.'s "Pretivm" Knipple Property, BC. From time to time work responsibilities may require the Geological Technician-Sample Coordinator to assist with activities at the Brucejack mine site, and between the Brucejack mine site and the Knipple core facilities. The Geological Technician-Sample Coordinator reports directly to the Project Geologist - Core Shack Lead or designate onsite a the Knipple facility.

Job Purpose & Accountability:

The Geological Technician-Sample Coordinator’s primary responsibility is the ensure the proper drill core sampling procedures are being conducted for each of the drilling programs. The role involves managing and tracking the sample shipments, and clear communication with site dispatchers and transport personnel to ensure timely delivery to the laboratory.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure that the Geological Technicians on each drill are following proper sampling procedures
  • Prepare sample submissions to assay laboratories with proper QA/QC protocol
  • Manage the sample tracking spreadsheet to keep shipment data organized
  • Prepare sample shipments for dispatch with site logistics, transport personnel, and lab personnel
  • Assist in the preparation of sample materials to streamline sampling of drill core, and assist in sampling of whole-core or half-core, when required
  • Conduct routine audits of the inventory and create purchase orders for restocking of consumables
  • Monitor sample bin inventory onsite and in transit
  • Mentor new Geological Technicians and ensure ongoing workplace and safety training occurs
  • Demonstrate awareness and commitment to health, safety, community and environmental protection in keeping with Pretivm Resources Inc.’s goals and objectives
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Through the direction of the Project Geologist - Core Shack Lead or designate, this position is responsible for overseeing the preparation of core samples and sample shipments. The work will require the incumbent to be very organized and attentive to detail, have strong problem-solving abilities, and be a confident communicator. 

Skills:

  • Strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift
  • Must have strong communication skills and be able to follow direction from supervisor
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Must have computer skills with MS Word and Excel
  • Previous drill core experience would be an asset
  • Able to work in extreme weather conditions
  • Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures
  • Valid Class 5 drivers license is preferred
  • Enjoy working outdoors

Additional Information:

  • Work at remote location (camp) on a 14 days on, 12 days off rotation, and 2 travel days.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment medical screening
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift
  • Must come to work with proper footwear (Steel Toe), warm clothes and waterproof jacket.
  • Be able to maintain high levels of performance over 12 hour shifts.
